Superlite CMS

Settings

The Settings section contains global values that Superlite uses when generating the public website.

Open Settings from the main administration navigation.

The settings are divided into two sections:

  • General
  • Publishing

General contains the identity and regional settings for the website, together with the favicon.

General

Open Settings and select General.

These settings apply across the entire website and can be used by Superlite when generating HTML, metadata and structured data.

Site name

Site name is the name of the website.

Superlite uses this value in several places, including Open Graph metadata and WebSite Schema.org structured data.

Enter the name that should represent the website.

For example:

Superlite

or:

Example Company

Changing the site name does not change the domain or URLs of the website.

After changing it, save the settings so that Superlite can use the new value when generating public pages.

Base URL

Base URL is the full public domain URL of the website.

For example:

https://example.com

Enter the URL without a trailing slash.

Correct:

https://example.com

Incorrect:

https://example.com/

Superlite uses the Base URL when it needs to generate complete URLs for the public website.

Make sure it uses the correct protocol and domain.

For a production website using HTTPS, the value should normally begin with:

https://

Changing the Base URL

You may need to change the Base URL when moving a Superlite installation to another domain or replacing a temporary development address with the final domain.

Change the value under General and save the settings.

The Base URL only tells Superlite which public address to use when generating the website. It does not configure the domain itself.

Your DNS and web hosting must already be configured for the new domain.

After changing the Base URL, rebuild the website so that generated URLs use the new value.

Default language

Default language controls the primary language information generated for the website.

Superlite uses this setting for the HTML `lang` attribute and Schema.org `inLanguage`.

Choose the language that represents the main language of the website.

Changing this setting does not translate existing content.

It changes the language information Superlite supplies when generating the public site.

Timezone

Timezone controls which timezone Superlite uses when working with dates and times.

Enter a valid PHP/IANA timezone name.

For example:

Europe/Stockholm

Using the correct timezone ensures that dates and times recorded or generated by Superlite correspond to the location of the website.

Avoid relying on the web server's timezone because the server may be configured for a different region.

Favicon

The favicon is the small icon that represents the website in places such as browser tabs and bookmarks.

Superlite lets you choose the favicon from images already stored in Media.

Open the Favicon setting to see the available images and select the one you want to use.

A square PNG is recommended.

If the image you want is not available, open Media and upload it first. Then return to Settings and select it as the favicon.

Favicon preview

When a favicon has been selected, Superlite displays a preview of the current image.

Use the preview to confirm that the correct media item is selected.

Remember that favicons are displayed at very small sizes in browsers. Images with simple shapes and clear contrast usually work better than detailed photographs.

Changing the favicon

Select another image from the available Media items and save the settings.

Superlite will then use the new favicon when generating the public website.

Browsers often cache favicons for a long time.

If the old favicon is still displayed after changing it, this does not necessarily mean that the Superlite setting failed. Try reloading the site without cache or checking it in another browser session.

Removing the favicon

If Superlite provides the No favicon option, select it to stop using the currently selected favicon.

Save the settings after making the change.

The next generated version of the website will no longer use the selected media item as its favicon.

Publishing settings

Settings also contains a separate Publishing section.

Publishing settings control site wide behaviour related to how Superlite publishes the website.

These settings are separate from the General settings so that identity and regional configuration are not mixed with publishing behaviour.

Only change publishing settings when you understand how the option affects the generated site.

Saving settings

Changes are not applied until the settings are saved.

After editing Site name, Base URL, Default language, Timezone or Favicon, save the configuration.

Settings that affect generated public HTML may require affected pages to be rebuilt before the change becomes visible on the website.

If a global setting has changed and you are unsure whether every affected page has been regenerated, use the full site rebuild function.

Settings and the public website

Superlite stores these settings as part of the CMS configuration.

The public website is then generated using those values.

Do not manually edit generated HTML to change settings such as the site name, language or favicon.

Make the change in Superlite and regenerate the affected public files instead.
